After two years of attachment, the Dutch military leader was grounded by Liverpool's leadership on May 30. Slot closed the second season in Anfield with a record of disappointment, when only the fifth goal, was just enough to win the next season's Champions League tickets on the day of the end of the British Forum.
At the first season, Slot helped Liverpool bring back the 20th British Foreign title in history, when the first championships a month early and left the pursuit team Arsenal to ten points. On May 25, 2025 went into the history of the Merseyside regional team when for the first time in 35 years, the CVs were given the opportunity to celebrate the British championship right on the home field.
In his final statements before leaving, writing directly to the CVs and the city of Liverpool, Slot sent a letter in the local newspaper Liverpool Echo to look back at the route that had passed.
"When you step out of the signboard in the Anfield Tunnel, you will feel a series of mixed emotions. It's duty, of course. The responsibility for the great history of this club. Both expectations, as natural. The ambition to write on the legacy has turned Liverpool into one of the world's largest football clubs for 134 years. And that is determination. Determined to compete. Determined to win. The determination to bring success to the viewers at Anfield was already so well-known worldwide.
The fact that all those feelings are crystallized by the British Foreign Championship after 12 months is something beyond the special. It is not just a cup, but a reward worth the constant effort, the sacrifice and devotion of so many people in the entire club.
It is more meaningful than ever because we enjoy it with you. You have sung the traditional songs, celebrating the goals. And the day we raised the championship cup, you were there. You stand packed with streets outside the SVM, filling the Anfield stands with endless joys.
After being deprived of much of such opportunities in 2020, I have never forgotten how much your presence in every moment has meant. Seeing hundreds of thousands of you coming together to the streets of Liverpool to celebrate the championship further impressed on me.
What happened on Water Street at the end of the day was really shocking, and my mind was always on all those affected. I have been honored to see for myself your compassionate spirit and unity. It's the spirit that has raised this city through the strict stages of the past, and I hope it will help bring justice and accountability that so many people have struggled for over the years.
The loss of Diogenes Jota just a few weeks after celebrating together is an unspeakable pain. More than anything, I'd like to remember a fellow teammate, a friend and a great man who touches the hearts of thousands of CVs every time he puts on his shirt with the club's logo logo.
At one of the most difficult times this club has faced, love, tolerance and emotional support from the big Liverpool family were extraordinary. When you leave the club, it would be a shame if I didn't tell you that the way you guys honor Dionysius and stand together to remember he's gonna be on my mind forever.
The bond between us transcends the boundaries of football, beyond the magical European nights under the Anfield lights or the melody of the song ‘You'll Never Walk Anal' that echoed from The Kop. You've helped me to feel welcome from the first days and lift my foot on this road. That's what I'll always hold. And of course, it's important to say thank you.
Thank you, players, who have put on Liverpool's symbol with pride in representing this club around the world. Thank you for the training team and staff, not only those on the training yard but also the silent people at the rear of the scenes, from those who tend the Anfield lawn to the staff working at the training center's canteen.
Thank you for your trust and direction. Thank you for the legends that have always supported me and helped me to appreciate the importance of ‘ Liverpool's identity.
Working with everyone is a great honor.
